In the very heart of Istria, in the valley of the river Mirna below picturesque hilltop city of Motovun lays the Motovun forest, a rich forest area which is home to one of the most valuable fruits of the earth - truffles. Every year during the high season of white truffle Zigante Truffle Days are held in Livade, an event that brings together gourmet aficionados from all over the world.
This event made the city of Livade renown as the center of the Istrian truffle, and the rich program of Zigante Truffle Days includes truffle fair, an international exhibition of wine and other indigenous Istrian products (such as Istrian prosciutto, sausage, cheese, honey, olive oil, grappa).
You can join culinary workshops, demonstrations of truffle hunting in the forest, and various tastings at which guests can try culinary specialties made with truffles presented by well-known chefs.
The international gourmet exhibition Zigante Truffle Days takes place every year in Livade, the richest source of Istrian truffles at the foothill of the city of Motovun, in the very heart of the river Mirna valley.In 2017 the truffle fair will take place for unprecedented ten weekends, every Saturday and Sunday from 16 September until 19 November.
The highlight of the fair is white truffle auction. The most beautiful and biggest truffle is selected and then sold at a public auction.
