Castle Belaj Wine Estate
Castle Belaj Wine Estate
Once you visit the Castle Belaj estate in central Istria, you will want to keep coming back for more. Take
a peak in the charming baroque castle dating from the 16th century, which once upon a time served
many different functions: as a prison, bank, post office, even as an administrative and judicial center for
one of the most important districts in the region. Currently waiting for the thorough renovation, castle
Belaj features breathtaking views of the Učka mountain and the surrounding olive groves and
vineyards. Moreover, Dvorac Belaj estate serves as a lovely private events venue, and features an on-
site restaurant, offering local cuisine with a modern twist.

On the estate, you can get the chance to explore the historical wine cellar in the Castle's eastern annex,
home of the aging wines from our very own Dvorac Belaj line, as well as the wines from the Podrum Belaj
line. Degustation of several wines will give you a unique experience of tasting the liquid magic produced
by the grapes handpicked on our very estate, some of them coming from vines planted as early as 1964.

Dvorac Belaj winery was established in 2011 by Belay family. Since the very beginnings, our wines are
produced exclusively from the historical vineyard around the property. First Vintages are produced with
the help of Gianfranco Kozlović and Ivica Matošević winemaking craftwork. In 2016, the wine production
has been fully moved into Belaj cellars. Every year Dvorac Belaj wines are awarded Golden and Silver
medals from Decanter and Vinistra wine competitions.
