Rojac Wine Estate
ROJAC wines are produced in Istria on the Rojac family estate. This boutique estate produces exclusively bioorganic/ecological wines from autochthonous/traditional grape varieties, i.e. the refosco and malvasia. The wines are natural; their production is the result of a lot of scrupulous work in the vineyard, where superior grapes are grown. These are carefully hand-picked and brought to a modern wine cellar, where they are left to turn into wine with minimum intervention in the natural winemaking process. What comes out is the wine we are proud to serve to our customers; as if we picked a bunch of grapes off a vine and squeezed the juice into a glass.
This is why ROJAC wines are unconventional, authentic, rich, structured and reflect the characteristics of the winemaker, the soil and the land of their origin. And it has been like this for the past 400 years since the predecessors of the Rojac family settled in Gažon a small village on the hills above Izola and Koper. It is not a coincidence that at that time in the Republic of Venice red wine from this region – produced in the best vintages – was named Renero and taxed three times more than other wines. In fact, it was a wine reputed to have medical benefits and was reserved for the Patricians and Doges of Venice.
